Baristocracy is a family business bringing Australian speciality coffee expertise to the North East. Australian born Alex was raised in the industry and, together with his Geordie partner Kate, has transformed his background in roasting, blending and barista training into one of the North East’s favourite coffee roasters. Roasting only speciality grade beans, they supply to numerous coffee shops around the region (including our LOCAL's coffee shelf) as well as producing beautifully complex bags for the aspiring home brewer.

Exeter based Crankhouse Coffee launched in 2014, growing from a single car garage to a roastery in the heart of Exeter where quality is key. Today, they are dedicated to a sustainable future of coffee, and contribute to organisations that drive science-based change in the industry such as the Specialty Coffee Association, World Coffee Research, Alliance for Coffee Excellence and One Percent for the Planet. We love Crankhouse’s offering of lesser-seen origins and varietals and their beautifully illustrated fully recyclable bags don’t hurt either!
Elsewhere Coffee Roasters
Elsewhere Coffee Roasters have come a long way since their lockdown beginnings. Founder Jack’s focus on roasting quality and single origin beans that are ethically sourced and fully traceable have carried them to a duo of London café sites and a beautiful roastery all in South East London. We’re super excited to get our hands on their seasonally sourced beans and share them with you too.

Hundred House Coffee have been roasting in the Shropshire hills since 2017. From their small rural home near the Welsh border, they’ve opened a dialogue with rural farming communities all over the world to source the best coffee as ethically as possible. Co-founders Matthew Wade and Anabelle De Gersigny focus on careful small batch roasting backed by decades of coffee experience. The team at Hundred House’s passion for culture means their coffee also supports the creative community through outreach and collaboration.
Luckie Beans

Now roasting in the Scottish Border town of Galashiels, Luckie Beans roast their ethically sourced coffee in small batches, allowing the attention to detail to be second to none. They dedicate themselves to sourcing and roasting the world's best coffee and use data logging software to profile each individual roast to make sure every batch is of the highest possible standard. No wonder they’re award winning roasters!

Odd Kin Coffee Roasters is the brainchild of former Rugby pro Sam Smith who wanted a fulfilling life after retiring through injury and found that in coffee. We’re glad he did, because Odd Kin are creating some exciting stuff down in Bristol and they’re still only 2!
After opening a coffee shop and with the brief interruption of the pandemic, they decided to begin roasting their own coffee beans and Odd Kin was born. The team at Odd Kin source their coffees seasonally from green importers and only ever buy speciality coffees graded above 83 points, so you know you’ll always be getting the best coffee of the moment from these top tier roasters.
Outpost Coffee
Nottingham based Outpost Coffee are a small, independent roaster committed to life-long coffee learning and education, spreading the word of well sourced coffee made well. They prioritise fair farming practices, carefully selecting exciting lots all over the world and roasting with the highest level of care. The team behind Outpost are a super knowledgeable bunch, also offering advice on the equipment and techniques that can help you (and us!) get the most from their coffee.
Pilgrims Coffee
Growing out of a café on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, a tidal island off the northeast coast, Pilgrims began roasting high quality, sustainably sourced coffee in 2014. They take pride in ensuring that everyone in the chain from seed to cup is well rewarded, regardless of certification and are constantly looking to provide the most sustainable beans they can, which is why many of their offerings are seasonal or rotating. We’re massive fans of their packaging too, both the unique illustrations and their commitment to truly plastic free recyclable paper bags which goes hand in hand with their partnership with Trees for Life, a rewilding charity revitalising forest in the Scottish Highlands.

Somerset has a thriving speciality coffee scene and Round Hill Roastery, based just outside Bath, are a key player. This coffee roaster focuses on single farm and single estate coffee allows them to create strong relationships direct with suppliers and bring truly unique coffee and complete transparency to their customers.
Round Hill roast their coffee specifically for either filter or espresso so they can bring out the best in their beans and their bright bags make things simple: blue for filter, pink for espresso.
