about
Refisa, Ethiopia - Missing Bean Coffee Roasters
An Ethiopian coffee with a really fruit forward flavour profile, bringing tropical notes of pineapple, orange and coconut to the cup- a dream for vibrant filter coffee lovers.
Missing Bean have sourced this one from the Refisa Washing Station in Nensebo, which receives coffee cherries from almost 600 growers in surrounding communities. Coffee from this area of West Arsi was previously classified as Sidama, but has a lot of uniqueness to offer, with high altitudes and rare wild coffee varieties creating distinct flavours.
For this washed lot, cherries were first fermented in shade for up to 60 hours after arriving at Refisa. Cherries were then washed to remove mucilage before being dried on traditional raised beds.
Now with 6 cafés across the county, Oxford’s first independently owned coffee shop Missing Bean have been flying the flag for specialty coffee across Oxfordshire since Ori and VIcky opened their first site in 2009. Their close-knit team have found their way into coffee from all walks of life, but all share a passion for sustainably sourced coffee which they hand roast at their East Oxford roastery.
Their coffee selection spans origins across the globe, sourcing with a special focus on developing direct trade relationships with producers.
