Anna's Clever Dripper Brew Guide
When Anna asked for a coffee kit recommendation for her afternoon brews, the Clever Dripper seemed like the obvious choice. Sitting somewhere between drip filter and french-press brewing, it's a quick and faff free way of brewing delicious immersion coffee without the cleanup.
Anna's now a certified Clever Dripper fangirl (and not just because it stops her husband Dave putting coffee grounds down the sink). Here's her foolproof recipe for brewing one large cup of coffee using a 500ml Clever Dripper.
What you'll need
-
15g medium-coarse ground coffee beans
-
Size 4 Filter Papers (Included with Clever Dripper)
-
Cup or serving jug
-
250ml Boiling Water
-
Spoon
- (optional)
- (optional)
step 1.
Weigh out 15g of your favourite coffee.
step 2.
If you're grinding your own coffee beans (which we always recommend!) you're looking for a medium-coarse grind size for Clever Dripper.
step 3.
Boil your kettle.
While the kettle is boiling, fold your filter paper to ensure it sits well within the Clever Dripper basket.
When the kettle is boiled, wet the filter within the Clever Dripper and sit it on top of your mug or serving jug to drain (this also helps to preheat your vessel of choice- two birds one stone!)
step 4.
Put your coffee grounds into the Clever Dripper filter. If you're using a scale, tare.
step 5.
Start a timer and pour 250g water, ensuring that the coffee grounds are evenly covered. As the Clever Dripper works as an immersion brewer, all of the water is poured in one step.
step 6.
After the coffee has brewed for 2 minutes, stop the timer and give the coffee a good stir to break through the crust.
Restart the timer, letting the coffee continue to brew and settle for another 30 seconds.
step 7.
At 2:30 on your timer, place the Clever Dripper on top of your mug or serving jug to allow the coffee to draw down (this should take between 30 seconds and 1 minute depending on brew volume). Remove the Clever Dripper at 3:30 on your timer to stop the drawdown.
Discard the filter and enjoy your Clever Dripper coffee!
