Colombian Coffee
Colombia
We love a good Colombian coffee, so much so we use one as our house roast. The coffee producing areas of Colombia, or Coffee Axis, lie amongst the Andes and the Sierra Nevada where there is a near perfect tropical coffee-growing climate at high altitudes with plenty of rainfall and shelter that yields two harvests annually. The regions of Caldas, Quindío, Tolima, Antioquia and Cauca all feature prominently on specialty coffee offer lists. The successful commercialisation of Colombian coffee is supported by the FNC (Federación Nacional de Cafeteros) who market and assist with exports, while also facilitating infrastructure in coffee-growing communities.
Colombian coffees have a great range of qualities and tasting notes from round and full bodied to juicy and fruity, and the country has some of specialty coffee's biggest innovators producing exciting, boundary pushing microlots that are changing perceptions of coffee globally.
