Domaine Batard Langelier spans 20 hectares in the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation just 50km from the Atlantic coast and is almost entirely planted with Melon de Bourgogne- the grape used in making Muscadet. The ethos of the family estate has been driven by third-generation winemaker Jérémie and his father Pascal. In the 1990s, Pascal rebelled against market-driven standardisation and its threats to biodiversity in favour of terroir-driven viniculture and sustainable viticulture. Jérémie continued this mission when he took over in 2009 and has brought in a new era of certified organic agriculture that makes for incredibly expressive wines. The Domaine's single-vineyard cuvées show off the oceanic influence and highly varied soils of the estate, as well as the great potential of Melon de Bourgogne; a grape that’s become emblematic of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine.
