Slovenian Wine
Winemaking is ancient history in Slovenia, predating its introduced in France, Spain and Germany by Roman settlers. The country's diverse geography means there are numerous microclimates. The eastern reaches offer continental climates with long hot summers, the western regions which sit along the Adriatic coast have a strong Italian influence, and the many vineyards located in the foothills of the numerous mountain ranges which span the northern border have much in common with the wine of neighbouring Austria.
