Vins de Pedra is based in DO Conca de Barbera, a Catalan region just north of Tarragona. Conca de Barbera has a rich winemaking tradition introduced by the Ancient Romans, and its co-operatives are the oldest in Spain.
This rich tradition runs right through Marta Pedra’s family too and her personal project Vins de Pedra is the legacy of this. Her small winery, which is uncertified practising organic, benefits from numerous micro-climates and soil types across the land, adding lots of complexity to the wines she makes. The bottles are a real family affair, featuring award-winning labels designed by her uncle Victor.
While the majority of wines from this region are white Cava grapes, Vins de Pedra is part of an increase in red production, with Trepat and Garnacha thriving in the mix of continental and maritime climates. All of Marta’s wines are hand-harvested, de-stemmed and fermented at low temps and her range offers both oak aged and fresher style stainless steel vinified wines.
