Vinícola La Calera

Vinícola La Calera has been a real journey for founders Javier del Blanco and César Arranz. They initially founded 3 Ases Vinos but eventually split from their capital partners who wanted to scale up into a commercial winery. Javier and César began working with a renewed focus on low-production, fresh wines from Spain’s Ribera Del Duero DO. This area, sitting on a plateau just north of Madrid, is renowned for its quality Tempranillo production that gives the famed Rioja region a run for its money.

Vinícola La Calera is the result of this journey; producing just two wines from a single plot of Tempranillo in Quintanilla de Arriba. Pico del Castro is their traditional oak-aged Tempranillo that’s rich, complex and a big F you to the greedy commercialists.
