Big Red Alert. This Tempranillo from Vinícola la Calera is made in the classic and recognisable Ribera del Duero style. Pico del Castro has every bit of the concentrated black fruit, damson jam, cocoa and creamy vanilla flavour wrapped up in a decadently full body.

This 2022 vintage wine was hand harvested, with careful selection taking place on Vinícola La Calera’s single plot vineyard. The grapes underwent spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats for 12 days, with one punch down and one pump over every day to manage the cap and ensure all that good colour, flavour and tannic quality of the Tempranillo is released. Vinification is finished with malolactic fermentation in 225L 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels for 4 months.
