about

Juan Jimenez Peña Finca El Porvenir, Colombia - Crankhouse Coffee
These Colombian coffee beans roasted by Crankhouse offer more vibrancy and complexity than a lot of the syrupy, fermented coffees we’ve tried recently- a real treat for pourover lovers who prefer a lighter fruit flavour.
Finca El Porvenir is a 16 hectare farm in Palestina, the southernmost municipality of Colombia’s Huila region. Here, Juan Jimenez operates a high volume but incredibly meticulous programme of specialty quality coffee cultivation. Señor Jimenez reinvests all his earnings back into the farm, knowing that quality is key to securing the best profits for both him and his team of pickers.
Part of this effort is a big focus on growing and processing Pink Bourbon, one of specialty coffee’s current big-name varieties. This washed lot gets the best from the delicate flavour balance of this varietal, with mouth-watering pink lady apple sweetness, rhubarb acidity and soft hibiscus florals.
Exeter based Crankhouse Coffee launched in 2014, growing from a single car garage to a roastery in the heart of Exeter where quality is key. Today, they are dedicated to a sustainable future of coffee, and contribute to organisations that drive science-based change in the industry such as the Specialty Coffee Association, World Coffee Research, Alliance for Coffee Excellence and One Percent for the Planet.
