When we get a new roaster on board, we want to try out everything they’ve got. To please the ever-growing number of home espresso lovers, we’ve gone for PLOT Roasting’s IMPACT espresso, which provides a delicious shot as both a standalone espresso and in milk based drinks.

These Brazilian coffee beans have been sourced from the iconic Fazenda Mió, in Minas Gerais’s Monte Santo de Minas. As with most coffees from this forward thinking estate, this is an interesting one! Peaberries are a natural mutation of the coffee cherry, developing only one seed instead of two and developing into small, round beans that process and roast quite differently to the norm.

For this lot, Mió have opted for a honey process, keeping some of the mucilage on the seed during drying to enhance the natural sweetness and fruit character of the coffee. This effort really comes through in the final cup: rich, nutty and super satisfying with that dried fruit sweetness lifting everything up.
