about

Peach Bloom, Ethiopia - Formative Coffee
We’re absolute suckers for a peachy coffee, and these new beans from London based Formative Coffee have nailed it. This fully washed Ethiopian coffee underwent 24-48 hours of ferment time that has resulted in a really aromatic cup. A dominant peach flavour at the front is paired with orange blossom and black tea florals, rounded out by a honey sweetness- a real classic Ethiopian profile.
The Gogugu Bekaka wet mill is managed by Kadir Jabril who has gone to great efforts to source coffees from individual producers who cultivate garden lots of only a hectare or so and create fully traceable coffees. The young trees in the village of Wate Gogugu that contribute to this lot are a blend of Ethiopian Landrace varieties that grow at extremely high altitudes between 2000-2280MASL, adding even more complexity to the final cup.
In establishing their washing station in the Uraga Woreda, Kadir and his brothers have created a brilliant reputation for the region, which was often previously mislabelled as Yirgacheffe.
Formative bring the quiet contemplation of brewing specialty coffee to the chaos of central London- and to your home!
Champion barista and founder Ian Kissick believes in changing the public’s perception of coffee and providing ‘formative’ experiences to drinkers by supplying extraordinary quality coffee and a bit of patience to the rush of city life.
