The Lady, Myanmar - Cartwheel Coffee
One of the tasty new brews we’ve been sipping in the drop office, these beans from Myanmar roasted by Cartwheel Coffee have been a sweet and fruity treat. Delicious syrupy texture, with prominent fruit flavour including pomelo acidity.
These unique flavours have a lot to do with this coffee’s processing. If you’ve explored our natural wines, you might know a thing or two about carbonic maceration. The Lady, grown by over 50 women farmers in Ywangan, also makes use of this technique in its processing, creating intensely fruity flavour by fermenting whole coffee cherries in a carbon-dioxide rich environment before a month-long drying stage.
Cartwheel is a Nottingham based independent specialty coffee roastery and café who are bringing transparent conversations about the journey of their coffee to their customers. Having grown up working in his Mum’s café, founder Alex threw himself on a whirlwind coffee journey all over the UK, becoming passionate about sharing coffee as more than a commodity product. Cartwheel’s coffee prioritises bold and unique flavours, honouring the characteristics of their origins and those involved in the coffee supply chain through sustainable sourcing.
