Origin Espresso, Peru - Ritual Coffee

Ritual Coffee’s Origin Espresso is chocolatey and sweet, with subtle biscuit tasting notes that brew up a treat in espresso based drinks and are designed to work well with and without milk. For this edition, Ritual have selected washed coffee beans from two  Peruvian farms in Cajamarca: Los Gentiles and La Palma, owned by Noriel Mendoza and Segunda Coronado respectively.

Both producers are founding members of Alpes Andinos, an association of 25 farming families in the region who have come together to strive for improvements in quality and sustainability and to gain the sale prices that reflect these efforts.

The added benefit is that all coffees used in this seasonally changing coffee come from certified organic farms. The extreme altitudes of Cajamarca help the contributing Peruvian coffee farms stave off coffee plant diseases that would normally require the use of pesticides and fertilisers.

Ritual Coffee are a Cheltenham specialty coffee roastery and brew bar in the heart of the Cotswolds. Courtney and Callum founded Ritual in 2019 on a basis of openness and honesty- with transparent sourcing at the very heart of all the coffees they roast.

Their coffee offering centres around relationships that Ritual return to year on year, always prioritising the work of smaller producers and farming co-operatives. All of Ritual’s coffee is roasted in their beloved 1980s roaster Sammy, with the hope of taking roasting back to its purest craft by roasting manually for full quality control.
