Missing Bean’s direct trade relationships with farms around the world make their coffees extra special. These washed Kenyan coffee beans come from the Sakami region near Mount Elgon , where Gloria Gummerus manages her own farm and mill while assisting local farmers with their growing and quality control.

Gloria grew up around coffee but forged her career in the beauty industry in Nairobi, always with coffee in the back of her mind. When a piece of land near her hometown became available, she jumped at the chance to start farming. Farmers in Sakami traditionally grow maize, but this form of agriculture offers minimal returns so Gloria has encouraged like-minded women into the coffee industry. Her focus on finding direct trade customers like Missing Bean means she has access to higher prices and customers who really appreciate the difference in specialty coffee flavour.
