about

Kilimbi, Rwanda - Curve Coffee
One of two new Rwandan coffees from Curve, Kilimbi makes for an exciting espresso that’s jammy and caramel sweet with tropical notes of papaya.
Sitting on the shores of Lake Kivu and only accessible by boat, Kilimbi was the birthplace of Muraho Trading Co and is now one of six washing stations owned by this innovative young coffee company. This is Curve’s third year buying from Kilimbi and it’s a firm favourite on many of our roasters’ offer lists. As one of the first stations in Rwanda to legally export honey and natural processed coffees, Kilimbi has built an impressive reputation and really set a mark for Rwandan specialty coffee!
These natural coffee beans are 100% red bourbon grown by smallholder farmers in the Nyamasheke district and delivered to Kilimbi. Here they are sorted and pulped, then dried on raised beds to enhance that sweet sweet flavour.
While Curve are featuring this one as an espresso, it would also make a brilliant Stove Top, Aeropress or French Press.
Curve Coffee Roasters are a values-driven roastery based in sunny Margate, Kent, founded in the back of a café in 2016 by passionate coffee professionals Tereza and Jon.
Curve know that the coffee they roast has the potential to make big differences to people’s livelihood and create better balance in the coffee industry. As a result, Curve’s focus is on seasonal, high quality coffees that are better not only for coffee drinkers but for the supply chain and the planet too.
