We’ve heard amazing things about the work of Ephtah, a community focused Ethiopian coffee exporter, and their founder Wubit Bekele. Curve had the privilege of seeing their work at their key processing station Lalesa when they visited this year.

When they purchased Lalesa in 2023, Ephtah took a specific interest in promoting women as the drivers of social and economic change in coffee. They have also made a big impact on the types of coffee that the women they work with can produce and the markets they can reach.

This incredible 'black honey' processed lot went through an initial oxidation on raised beds prior to de-pulping before being returned to the beds to shade dry for 25 days under close monitoring. Big full-bodied tropical fruit juiciness and violet florals make for a truly delicious filter coffee that shows off all the hard work of Ephtah.
