Burundi Rugembe Hill Lot 14 - Crankhouse Coffee
It’s not hard to see why Exeter-based roasters Crankhouse picked up this Burundian coffee. It’s a great example of characteristic washed coffee from the small African nation, packing sweet berry notes alongside orange acidity and hibiscus florals all wrapped in a medium bodied cup. These coffee beans have been sourced from the Migoti Washing Station in Bujumbura by Omwani Coffee, who are working hard to ensure both price fairness and transparent tracing. Coffee from this washing station has earned a stellar reputation in the specialty coffee world, both for processing great lots like Rugembe Hill, and for its efforts towards education and sustainability.
We recommend this one for a tasty filter, and think it makes an especially good Aeropress brew.
Exeter based Crankhouse Coffee launched in 2014, growing from a single car garage to a roastery in the heart of Exeter where quality is key. Today, they are dedicated to a sustainable future of coffee, and contribute to organisations that drive science-based change in the industry such as the Specialty Coffee Association, World Coffee Research, Alliance for Coffee Excellence and One Percent for the Planet.
