Magnolia Vicente, Mexico - Curve Coffee

Honeyed macadamia and ripe pear flavour with a richly creamy mouthfeel, these Mexican coffee beans roasted for filter brewing by Curve Coffee are like a luxurious dessert course.

We’re used to trying community blends when we buy coffee from Mexico but this one, sourced by importer Raw Material and their Mexican partners Red Beetle, showcases a single farmer washed micro-lot. 30 year old Magnolia Vicente is a member of the Cafe El Zapoteco co-operative and grows coffee across three sites in Cacalotepec, Oaxaca. Coffee is Magnolia’s only income, and she uses any profits to constantly improve her plots and pay seasonal harvest workers.

Red Beetle and Cafe El Zapoteca have put considerable effort into separating out high-grade lots from the 180 producer families who make up the co-operative, which incentivises quality and means better prices for individual farmers.

Curve Coffee Roasters are a values-driven roastery based in sunny Margate, Kent, founded in the back of a café in 2016 by passionate coffee professionals Tereza and Jon.

Curve know that the coffee they roast has the potential to make big differences to people’s livelihood and create better balance in the coffee industry. As a result, Curve’s focus is on seasonal, high quality coffees that are better not only for coffee drinkers but for the supply chain and the planet too.
