Francisco Velasquez, Honduras - Round Hill Roastery
Coffee from Honduras's Intibucá region is renowned for its subtle acidity and fruit forward flavour, so we’re super excited to try this washed microlot from Francisco Velasquez, whose farm El Durazno is located in Masaguara.
Francisco’s passion for quality coffee saw him become a member of the Intibucá project, which offers farmers skill-sharing, training and access to exporters with the hopes of improving specialty coffee in this region and improving its traceability, something that roasters like Round Hill value highly. This pathway also ensures that there is a future market for coffees from Intibucá, encouraging more farmers in the community to switch to specialty coffee production.
This microlot coffee instantly caught our eye, with tasting notes of lime, hibiscus and cane sugar offering clean, sweet flavour that we can’t wait to brew with a Chemex.
Somerset has a thriving speciality coffee scene and Round Hill Roastery, based just outside Bath, are a key player. This coffee roaster focuses on single farm and single estate coffee allows them to create strong relationships direct with suppliers and bring truly unique coffee and complete transparency to their customers.
Round Hill roast their coffee specifically for either filter or espresso so they can bring out the best in their beans and their bright bags make things simple: blue for filter, pink for espresso.
