Sipi Community, Uganda - Cult Coffee Roasters
This fruit bomb coffee from Uganda’s Sipi community tastes good and does good too. Mountain Harvest is a Ugandan coffee company for Ugandans operated by Ugandams. The organisation was founded in 2017 by Kenneth Barigye with the aim to change how the world views Ugandan coffee while also transforming the lives of the communities who produce it. Mountain Harvest offers stable, above market buyers for their farmers to operate sustainable businesses that benefit the entire local economy.
Situated on the Northern slope of Mount Elgon, Sipi is one of ten community zones that Mountain Harvest works with. Over 60% of workers here are women, and the support of women farmers and the casual ‘invisible workers’ who hand-sort every single coffee bean for quality control is a particular focus for Mountain Harvest, making these coffee beans a great example of their work.
This washed lot has been roasted by Edinburgh based Cult Coffee for filter brewing and is extremely clean and aromatic, with bright notes of raspberry and kiwi backed by oolong aromas.
Cult's values have carried through into their roasting, sourcing high quality seasonal focused coffees to share with their community. Cult roast separate espresso and filter roast profiles to enhance the qualities of the coffees they take care to source and to optimise them for your preferred brewing method.
