about
Baristocracy Uganda - Baristocracy Coffee
Baristocracy’s single origin Ugandan coffee beans have been sourced from the Kisinga Coffee Station in the Rwenzori mountains. In this region, smallholder coffee farmers grow less than 2 acres of coffee plants, and the best option for access to the more stable specialty market is to process at communal washing stations like Kisinga. Processed naturally and dried on raised African beds, this coffee has some dominant strawberries and cream tasting notes with the silky mouthfeel to match, with a subtle pink pepper spice that rounds out the cup.
Baristocracy is a family business bringing Australian speciality coffee expertise to the North East. Australian born Alex was raised in the industry and, together with his Geordie partner Kate, has transformed his background in roasting, blending and barista training into one of the North East’s favourite coffee roasters. Roasting only speciality grade beans, they supply to numerous coffee shops around the region (including our LOCAL's coffee shelf) as well as producing beautifully complex bags for the aspiring home brewer.
