Candy Cane - Coaltown Coffee
Christmas coffee doesn’t have to be all about chocolate and nuts, Coaltown’s fruity coffee is perfect for festive filter brewing. Candy Cane features a sweet and boozy flavour profile of mulled wine, cranberry and sugar plum with coffee beans from Finca Hartmann in Panama.
Family run enterprise Finca Hartmann are one of the pioneers of coffee in Panama, and have worked with Coaltown for the past 7 years. Led by Allan Hartmann, the family share a vision of harmony with nature through responsible coffee growing- with each member of the family taking ownership of an aspect of coffee production.
This year’s coffee is a blend of Chico Gallo and Pacamara varieties, picked at optimum ripeness for intense sweetness. This experimental natural coffee underwent 48 hours of anaerobic fermentation before a meticulous 20 day drying period.
Founder Scott set up Coaltown in his hometown of Ammanford, a former mining town in South Wales, in 2019. His aim was to bring an industry back to this community by employing local people and creating a passion for a new black gold: specialty coffee.
B Corp certified Coaltown work with farms across the world to produce transparently sourced, carefully roasted coffee with quality, community and sustainability in mind at every step.
