Cartwheel Coffee’s new naturally processed Nicaraguan coffee offers a sweet and fruity cup, full of jammy berry flavour and floral hibiscus complexity- we’re getting posh cordial vibes when brewed up with a V60.

Teofilo Jose Rodriguez, or Don Teó, is very well regarded in the remote Nueva Segovia town of Jalapa, where he and his partner Alma have been growing coffee for over 20 years. Their farm, Finca Las Marias, dedicates around 50 hectares to growing a diverse selection of coffee varieties including the cultivar Marsellesa that forms this lot.

With the advance of climate change, Marsellesa has become a really important cultivar in Central America- offering leaf rust and coffee berry disease resistance and ensuring a strong yield for growers.

Even more important to Don Téo is that Marsellesa maintains the quality and great flavours of traditional varieties, so he can be truly proud of the coffee he grows.

Cartwheel is a Nottingham based independent specialty coffee roastery and café who are bringing transparent conversations about the journey of their coffee to their customers. Having grown up working in his Mum’s café, founder Alex threw himself on a whirlwind coffee journey all over the UK, becoming passionate about sharing coffee as more than a commodity product. Cartwheel’s coffee prioritises bold and unique flavours, honouring the characteristics of their origins and those involved in the coffee supply chain through sustainable sourcing.
