Bumbogo, Rwanda - Yallah Coffee
There ain’t no party like a Bumbogo party! Since opening in 2017 Rwanda’s Bumbogo Coffee Washing Station has grown at a pace, but it’s the joyous dance parties and drum circles that Bumbogo have become known for, and that Yallah got to experience first hand. Invite us next time?!
The Gakenke District’s newest washing station is just an hour from the Rwandan capital Kigali and is owned by Neza Trading Co, partners of the renowned Muraho. The Neza team, including manager Fidel Munyensanga, have doubled the production on site by providing agricultural training to help the smallholder farmers who contribute to Bumbogo improve their yields and increasing the number of African drying beds.
These beds are crucial for the meticulous drying needed to produce outstanding naturals like this one, clean and bright with notes of sweet cassis, molasses and a subtle violet aroma. Definitely one for the filter brewers.
Yallah Coffee are a small team roasting single-origin coffee out of a barn in Falmouth, Cornwall. Their roasting operation is backed by direct climate action: importing coffee by sail, eliminating single use packaging, committing to composting and powering the whole thing with renewable energy.
In 2024, they began their 1% for the planet membership, pledging to donate 1% of profits to environmental change.
Yallah partner with community charities both in Cornwall and at origin, sourcing with relationship and transparency at the forefront while also assisting rural Cornish communities to improve quality of life closer to home.
