Marisol Ramirez Serrano, Mexico - Girls Who Grind

A mother, Q-grader and farm manager: Mexican coffee producer Marisol Ramirez Serrano is every woman, so its clear why Girls Who Grind want to shout about her coffee.

After learning the art of coffee cultivation from her father, Marisol manages Finca El Plátano in Chocamán, Veracruz, where she combines coffee-growing tradition with sustainable techniques including using worm compost as a fertiliser. Veracruz benefits from a more moderate climate than elsewhere in Mexico, allowing Marisol to produce exceptional natural process coffee beans like these. The state also has the best infrastructure and technology of Mexico’s coffee growing regions, with more controlled farming measures and disease-resistant varieties in place to combat the challenges posed by climate change.

One of our favourite crowd-pleasing coffees from last year, this year's harvest is every bit as sweet and nutty as the last, ideal for a super consistent and rich espresso or an all day drinking filter.

Girls Who Grind Coffee is a female founded specialty coffee roastery based in Wiltshire.

New York born Casey founded GWGC in 2017 with co-founder Fi with an aim to make space in the specialty coffee world, seeing room for change in a traditionally patriarchal industry.

As part of their strive for equality and representation in the coffee industry, GWGC source all of their coffee from women producers to celebrate their massive contribution to the industry. The conscious choice they have made is all about sharing these women’s stories too, so that their customers know exactly who they’re supporting.
