about
Asmucafe, Colombia - Girls Who Grind
New to Girls Who Grind’s roster of incredible women coffee producers is ASMUCAFE, an inspiring collective of farmers from El Tambo in Colombia. The women of ASMUCAFE (Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe) are passionate about producing the best coffee they can to improve the quality of life of their families’ and positively contribute to their community by sharing knowledge and resources.
All of their coffee is processed using a “double” fermentation process, where the cherries are left in the loading hoppers for 14 hours, before depulping, then placed into traditional open fermentation tanks for another 10 hours. The coffee is then washed three to four times before being dried both mechanically and under the sun.
This coffee is smooth, sweet and chocolatey with a clean berry-like finish, designed for everyday brewing while still offering lots of character.
Girls Who Grind Coffee is a female founded specialty coffee roastery based in Wiltshire.
New York born Casey founded GWGC in 2017 with co-founder Fi with an aim to make space in the specialty coffee world, seeing room for change in a traditionally patriarchal industry.
As part of their strive for equality and representation in the coffee industry, GWGC source all of their coffee from women producers to celebrate their massive contribution to the industry. The conscious choice they have made is all about sharing these women’s stories too, so that their customers know exactly who they’re supporting.
