Indonesian coffee is dominated by mixed lots from small lots which can be challenging to trace, which makes this lot roasted by Crankhouse extra special. Wahana, established in 2005, is the island of Sumatra’s first single varietal specialty coffee estate.

Alongside its exceptional coffee, the estate provides housing, electricity, water, healthcare and childcare to the 1000 workers it employs across the harvest season.

They grow coffee on 250 hectares of the 468 hectare estate, with all single-varietal lots kept separate for the potential of outstanding microlots. This lot is 100% Rasuna, a Timor Hybrid and Typica cross that is grown widely across the estate, and underwent natural processing at their on-site wet mill.

The cherry was first patio dried for 48 hours then moved to mechanical driers until they reached the ideal moisture level. The resulting coffee is really complex with some exotic banana and melon flavour and earthy spice.
