Sister Sister - Finca Bethania + Finca Las Hortensias Nicaragua - Coborn Coffee

This Nicaraguan coffee is the result of a happy accident in the Coborn Coffee roastery. While sipping on one of these lots, they took a sip of a new coffee sample and discovered a taste sensation.

It was the big citrus fruit and chardonnay grape flavour of these anaerobic natural coffee beans that caught the attention of the Coborn team, who thought it made for a perfect filter brew- and we agree!

Sister Sister is a nod to third generation farmers Ana and Martha Albir, two sisters who respectively own Finca Las Hortensias and Finca Bethania, two farms in the Nueva Segovia region that borders Honduras. Their family is representative of the significance of coffee to Nicaraguans, with coffee production supporting 45,000 families in the Central American nation.

London based micro-roastery Coborn Coffee have a loyal following of supporters who have the same respect for both their high quality coffee and responsible sourcing and roasting. Justin and Kenny founded Coborn with the aim of making unique and great tasting coffees affordable to their local communities. In the two years since their inception, they’ve managed all of this while sourcing only from female majority owned farms and co-ops in developing economies.

We got chatting to these guys at London Coffee Festival and couldn’t get enough of their fun-filled brews or ambitious ideas for the coffee industry so we’re thrilled to have them on drop.
