Cumbre, Nicaragua - Coborn Coffee

We’ve arrived at Central American coffee season! Coborn are treating us to a couple of bangers to kick things off. This one is the product of La Cumbre de Mujeres, a group of five amazing women who’ve joined forces to create a classic, clean Nicaraguan coffee that celebrates the ‘heights of women’ in their country’s coffee industry.

This coffee blends washed lots from Martha Albir, Ana Albir, Filomena Gradiz, Martha Sanchez and Katherine Herrera for an autumnal espresso: chocolatey, nutty, and a little bit fruity. Coborn are calling it the old recipe Cadbury’s fruit and nut before they went and ruined it, but we’ll leave that beef between them.

London based micro-roastery Coborn Coffee have a loyal following of supporters who have the same respect for both their high quality coffee and responsible sourcing and roasting. Justin and Kenny founded Coborn with the aim of making unique and great tasting coffees affordable to their local communities. In the two years since their inception, they’ve managed all of this while sourcing only from female majority owned farms and co-ops in developing economies.

We got chatting to these guys at London Coffee Festival and couldn’t get enough of their fun-filled brews or ambitious ideas for the coffee industry so we’re thrilled to have them on drop.
