about
Gloria Hernandez, Honduras - Girls Who Grind
A sweet and spicy Honduran coffee that’s the perfect start for colder days. These deliciously fudgy washed coffee beans would make both a really tasty espresso or filter, with poached fruit and nut notes.
This warming brew from Girls Who Grind was sourced from Gloria Henriquez’s Finca Los Nances, a humble one hectare farm in Mercedes, close to the El Salvador border.
Fourth generation farmer Gloria has fond memories of her grandparents picking coffee, but Los Nances was hit hard by coffee rust disease around a decade ago, and she was forced to diversify her offering with chickens and other crops.
Her heart remains with coffee growing, and Gloria now produces exciting and high quality micro-lots, working closely with local co-op Cafesmo to establish relationships with specialty roasters.
Girls Who Grind Coffee is a female founded specialty coffee roastery based in Wiltshire.
New York born Casey founded GWGC in 2017 with co-founder Fi with an aim to make space in the specialty coffee world, seeing room for change in a traditionally patriarchal industry.
As part of their strive for equality and representation in the coffee industry, GWGC source all of their coffee from women producers to celebrate their massive contribution to the industry. The conscious choice they have made is all about sharing these women’s stories too, so that their customers know exactly who they’re supporting.
