Ibanda is a village in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, a hotbed for coffee in Uganda. Farmers here work around 1-2 acres of land where coffee is the main cash crop and can be the real difference in their lives. Social enterprise and importer Agri Evolve have had a huge impact on the reputation of coffee in this region, dedicating themselves to sustainably improving the productivity and profitability of Rwenzori coffee farmers. One way they do this is by encouraging farmers to only pick the ripest cherries to enhance the quality of the harvest and help farmers access specialty coffee prices.

After harvest, the coffee cherries are taken to Agri Evolve’s processing station at Nyabirongo for natural processing, where they are floated, graded and finally sun-dried on raised beds while being frequently turned.
