Kainamui Coffee Factory provides processing for around 2000 smallholders in the Kirinyaga county region on the slopes of Mount Kenya, and has been since 1963. Contributing producers benefit from this wealth of knowledge and the ideal soil and climate of the area, where mineral rich volcanic soils and consistent temperatures see record yields.

At Kainamui, the coffee cherry is fermented for around 24 hours, then washed before a secondary fermentation. Further washing follows, before the coffee enters soaking tanks for another 24 hours, a process that results in the development of the acidity and complex fruit flavours that sets apart Kenyan coffee.
