Los Encinos Costa Rica - Round Hill Roastery

Costa Rican coffee is renowned for incredibly unique microlots, and especially honey processed coffee beans that provide sweet and fruity tasting notes. This lot, Los Encinos, roasted by Round Hill Roastery, comes from Cafe Ceres in the mountains of Tarrazú, and provides stand out strawberry flavour, with aromatic Parma Violets on the nose and a slightly creamy body.

Cafe Ceres micro mill is a relatively recent endeavour founded by mother-daughter duo Stephenny and Alexandra in 2019. All farming, milling and processing is done on site, meaning there’s a high level of control at every level, and issues like water usage and wastage can be managed at producer level.

For this red honey processed coffee, the coffee cherries are sorted, fermented for 72 hours with the pulp on, then pulped and fermented for an extra 48 hours before drying.

Somerset has a thriving speciality coffee scene and Round Hill Roastery, based just outside Bath, are a key player. This coffee roaster focuses on single farm and single estate coffee allows them to create strong relationships direct with suppliers and bring truly unique coffee and complete transparency to their customers.

Round Hill roast their coffee specifically for either filter or espresso so they can bring out the best in their beans and their bright bags make things simple: blue for filter, pink for espresso.
