Nerie, India - Missing Bean Coffee Roasters
These Indian coffee beans offer more brightness and sweetness than we’re used to! With notes of raspberry, lemon and honey this one from Missing Bean is tasting like the perfect iced tea, which in our minds means it's ripe for cold brew season.
The Hoysala plantations, located in India’s Baba Budan Hills, have been owned by the same family since the 1950s and are now managed by the 4th generation who farm chemical free spices and fruit alongside their organic Arabica and Robusta coffee. Their shade grown coffee grows under a two tier canopy, also home to over 200 species of animals, birds, insects and reptiles.
For this natural lot, the cherry was picked by local labourers with each lot separated into harvest day and variety. At the on site processing facility, the cherry is pulped to remove mucilage and sorted for quality and defects. The drying stage involves a mechanical stage to remove surface moisture before the lot is moved to raised beds to slowly dry, allowing plenty of sweet flavour to build.
Now with 6 cafés across the county, Oxford’s first independently owned coffee shop Missing Bean have been flying the flag for specialty coffee across Oxfordshire since Ori and Vicky opened their first site in 2009. Their close-knit team have found their way into coffee from all walks of life, but all share a passion for sustainably sourced coffee which they hand roast at their East Oxford roastery.
Their coffee selection spans origins across the globe, sourcing with a special focus on developing direct trade relationships with producers.
