Palli Family, Bolivia - Bailies Coffee Roasters
Bailies’ first ever coffee from Bolivia is a sweet and full bodied cup with a great depth of nutty almond flavour- super versatile, because everyone should get to try this rarer origin!
The Palli family in Copacobana who are part of Agricafe’s Sol de la Mañana programme for Bolivian coffee producers. Though the family have been growing coffee for generations at their farm La Hermosa, through the guidance of Sol de la Mañana (Morning Sun) producers are able to cultivate higher quality specialty coffee and access better prices rather than contributing to commercial regional lots.
For this washed microlot, the coffee cherry was handpicked by farm manager Brenda Palli with the help of seasonal pickers. The cherries are collected and transported to Bella Vista, a nearby mill, where they are sorted, cleaned and de-pulped before washing. The dried coffee is finally taken to Agricafe's mill in La Paz to be prepared for export or domestic consumption.
Founded by Russell Bailie in 2001 with a vision of championing specialty coffee in Northern Ireland, Bailies Coffee Roasters have been roasting, training, and award-winning in Belfast for almost 25 years and are a real cornerstone of the specialty coffee industry in the country.
While many of our coffee roasters are fresh industry faces making big waves in today’s specialty coffee boom, sometimes you just can’t beat that level of experience. Having built a quarter of a century of partnerships and relationships with some of the world’s best coffee farms, producers and communities, Bailies have it in spades.
Throughout their journey, sustainability and quality control has been at the forefront, with Bailies’s passionate sourcing and roasting team bearing the massive responsibility of doing right by both the growers and drinkers of their incredible coffee.
