Frinsa Edun, Indonesia - Round Hill Roastery

Our newest filter pick from Round Hill Roastery is this banger of an Indonesian coffee from the island of Java. With bold cherry flavour and aroma, juicy raspberry zing and chocolate ganache body this one’s a real treat for the senses.

The Java Frinsa Estate in West Java is owned and operated by Wildan Mustofa and his wife Atieq Mustikaningtyas. They both grow and assist partnering farms in the Bandung Highlands with specialty coffee in order to develop the quality and reputation of coffee from this region. Indonesian coffee is often regarded as muddy or earthy tasting, due to the challenges of processing in Indonesia’s extremely humid climate, but this team have done everything they can to get clean and flavourful tasting profiles, including using pre-drying methods and parabolic dryers.

Edun means crazy (in a good way) in Bahasa, and does pretty well at summing up this funky experimental coffee, which has undergone anaerobic lactobacillus fermentation and natural processing.

Somerset has a thriving speciality coffee scene and Round Hill Roastery, based just outside Bath, are a key player. This coffee roaster focuses on single farm and single estate coffee allows them to create strong relationships direct with suppliers and bring truly unique coffee and complete transparency to their customers.

Round Hill roast their coffee specifically for either filter or espresso so they can bring out the best in their beans and their bright bags make things simple: blue for filter, pink for espresso.
