about
Fazenda Cerrado Grande, Brazil - Crankhouse Coffee
Brazilian farmer Raquel Ribeiro Aguiar has been passionate about coffee since growing up on her family’s estate. When her father retired she gained her own parcel of land and quickly shifted her farm, Fazenda Cerrado Grande, to specialty coffee production.
Ideally located in the cool green hills of Sul de Minas, Cerrado Grande produces top quality coffee with the assistance of 22 full time employees on the 192 hectare estate.
This lot utilises popular Brazilian cultivar Arara with an Induced Fermentation natural process. After handpicking, the coffee cherries are spread out in thick 30cm layers to slow the drying process and induce fermentation. After 48 hours these cherries and dispersed in thinner layers to dry over a further 10 days until ideal moisture content is reached.
This Brazilian beauty from Crankhouse Coffee is syrupy sweet and juicy with pear flavour, with a little sugared almond to provide real drinkability to the cup. We’re fancying a big cup of batch brew filter to test this one’s all day drinker credentials.
Exeter based Crankhouse Coffee launched in 2014, growing from a single car garage to a roastery in the heart of Exeter where quality is key. Today, they are dedicated to a sustainable future of coffee, and contribute to organisations that drive science-based change in the industry such as the Specialty Coffee Association, World Coffee Research, Alliance for Coffee Excellence and One Percent for the Planet.
