Kenya Mercy AB - North Star Coffee
Coffee from Kenya is always a treat- with flavour profiles that absolutely leap out the cup and tasting notes that really translate from bag to mouth. North Star’s new Kenyan roast packs a big punch of juicy lemon and honey sweetness, think the best Lemsip you’ve ever had, that’s primed for filter brewing.
This washed lot comes from female grower and entrepreneur Nyokabi Mungai’s Mercy Estate in Kiambu County- a historic specialty coffee region on the slopes of Aberdare mountains. Nyokabi operates a very attentive post harvest process- with hand picked cherries sorted, pulped and soaked before being dried on raised beds.
This coffee has been sourced through Vava Coffee whose mission is focused on encouraging the next generation of Kenyan coffee farmers as the average age of coffee farmers continues to increase. By providing youth with empowering opportunities in the coffee industry, founder Vava Angwenyi hopes to see continuous development in Kenyan coffee.
North Star Coffee are a company and family united by a love for great coffee and a desire to create a more certain future for its existence. They let the unique terroir and characteristics of their coffees speak for themselves, elevating the consumer experience with a cup full of character, and by working with a network of valued producing partners, North Star Coffee build trustworthy relationships based on the potential for a positive future. They strive to build a coffee industry that works for everyone, free from the volatility of the market and the impacts of climate change.
