about

Elisabete Martins, Brazil - Cartwheel Coffee
Brazilian coffee plays such a crucial role in driving the specialty coffee market, but we’ve got to admit- we don’t drink a ton of it! It’s rare that a Brazilian really stands out to us on our roasters’ offer lists but this one from Cartwheel, packed with rich nutty choc and sweet mango flavour, certainly did.
This coffee was sourced by Bossa Coffee Company, a London based specialty coffee importer who hope to change the relationship between growers and roasters. Brazilian co-founder Bruna has first-hand experience of farming in Brazil. Through their import business, they share insights into the lives of coffee-growing families and information directly from the source.
These beans come from Fazenda Cachoeira in Minas Gerais, where Elisabete Martins and her family have been cultivating coffee since 2000. At the time they were seeking to diversify the income they made from running a supermarket during a Brazilian coffee boom, but this side of the business became a real passion project. Like the majority of coffee from Brazil, this lot underwent natural processing.
Cartwheel is a Nottingham based independent specialty coffee roastery and café who are bringing transparent conversations about the journey of their coffee to their customers. Having grown up working in his Mum’s café, founder Alex threw himself on a whirlwind coffee journey all over the UK, becoming passionate about sharing coffee as more than a commodity product. Cartwheel’s coffee prioritises bold and unique flavours, honouring the characteristics of their origins and those involved in the coffee supply chain through sustainable sourcing.
