Costa Rica Aquiares Esperanza - Round Hill Roastery
We’ve tried a few coffees from Diego Robelo’s Aquiares farm, a historic Costa Rican estate in Turrialba that’s gained a global reputation for producing stunning high quality anaerobic naturals like this one roasted by Round Hill. During Aquiares’s rigorous processing, the coffee cherries are floated and sorted, then placed in a stainless steel tank with Mossto (fruit juice from previous fermentations) to add extra yeast and bacteria and begin the fermentation process.
True to type, these Costa Rican coffee beans are sweet and jammy with an aroma to match. This is a reality special one, making use of the experimental Esperanza varietal that is only being grown on a handful of farms.
Somerset has a thriving speciality coffee scene and Round Hill Roastery, based just outside Bath, are a key player. This coffee roaster focuses on single farm and single estate coffee allows them to create strong relationships direct with suppliers and bring truly unique coffee and complete transparency to their customers.
Round Hill roast their coffee specifically for either filter or espresso so they can bring out the best in their beans and their bright bags make things simple: blue for filter, pink for espresso.
