1000 Hills, Rwanda - Round Hill Roastery
Round Hill’s syrupy sweet and fruity coffee comes from the land of a thousand hills: Rwanda. Rwanda Trading Company operates nineteen wet mills across the country’s productive highlands, where they directly provide business and agronomy training for farmers and is helping to build resilient and transparent supply chains.
This lot pulls from smallholder farmers in the Nyakabuye sector where coffee grows at elevations up to 2000MASL, making for slow ripening cherries and bright and sweet coffees.
Marked by tasting notes of rhubarb, strawberry and maple syrup, this coffee really benefits from the traditional Rwandan fully washed processing which helps to bring out the expressive flavour profiles of those sweet cherries.
Somerset has a thriving speciality coffee scene and Round Hill Roastery, based just outside Bath, are a key player. This coffee roaster focuses on single farm and single estate coffee allows them to create strong relationships direct with suppliers and bring truly unique coffee and complete transparency to their customers.
Round Hill roast their coffee specifically for either filter or espresso so they can bring out the best in their beans and their bright bags make things simple: blue for filter, pink for espresso.
