Arrebujao Tinto - Castuo Wines
Smooth, substantial but surprisingly fresh red wine from Extremadura’s Castuo Wines. Arrebujao is a local word that means ‘mixture’ and this red blend of Garnacha Tintorera, Trincadeira, Mazuelo and Tempranillo comes from vines up to 40 years old in the Tierra da Barros.
Spanish winemaker Fernando produces with minimal intervention to better express the characteristic of the unique grapes of the region. There’s lots of personality to this young wine, which was spontaneously fermented in steel before being aged in concrete eggs for 2 months before being bottled with very few additions.
Bright red in the glass, with sweet shop aromas of sour strawberry, cherry and violets.
Castuo Wines make minimal intervention wines with the unique grape varieties born of the Extremadura's red soils. Winemaker Fernando helps local farmers cultivate the land of the Tierra de Barros using regenerative farming practices to make the best of native grapes like Pardina, Eva, Morisca, and Trincadeira that are acclimated to their local environment.
Castuo believe that these grapes say a whole lot about the the character of this land and are a big part in making honest and interesting wines with a big personality.
Castuo's next goal is to transition to fully organic farming.
