Could vermouth over ice be the drink of the summer? We reckon so.

More complex than a wine, more approachable than a spirit, with perfectly balanced bittersweet flavour. Jaramagos Vermut, from Spanish winery Castuo in the Extremadura,  builds on a base of indigenous Morisca grapes infused with locally harvested wormwood, alongside native aromatics including lavender, thyme, citrus peel and spices. This bottle also gets a boost of herbaceous flavour from its skin contact fermentation, resulting in a Spanish vermouth that honours terroir and  tradition while being bold and innovative.

We’ll be taking tips from the Spanish with this one, honouring the ritual of an early afternoon vermut aperitif over ice with a slice of orange and olives but it’s equally good for mixing with soda or as a vibrant twist in vermouth cocktails.
