These coffee beans come from North Star’s work with Ijabo producer group and represent a very proud moment for their Rwandan coffee Impact Project.

The Ijabo (Dignity) Project supports 20 young farmers in Rwanda who may have otherwise left the area to move to urban centres. They are helped to start their careers in coffee with the hopes of future-proofing the coffee industry in this region and keeping their income within the local area. North Star sponsored the planting of 20000 coffee trees which have since been distributed among the farmers, who also receive harvesting assistance and agronomy training.

In their second harvest year, the group have tripled their output and produced a massive 67 bags of green coffee for export, a major milestone for both Ijabo and North Star. 

This lot, one of three North Star have received from the project this season, is a high quality honey lot processed at Cyato washing station. Distinct sweet date flavour, with aromatic pear drop and delicate candied citrus acidity.
