The Milkman opened its doors in 2015, transforming an old candy shop into a cosy coffee shop. The Milkman is inspired by the story of founder Mark’s great grandfather, a horse-drawn milkman in Aberdeenshire.

There’s often queues out the door on weekend mornings and in Edinburgh’s busy summer, but call in early on the way from Waverley train station for good coffee and a range of sweet treats sourced from local suppliers that always includes options for special dietary requirements. There’s limited seating in their cafes, but some outdoor pavement seating and free WiFi if you manage to find a perch.

The Milkman use a La Marzocco Linea PB and source their house espresso from local roastery Obadiah. They also offer a rotating filter option that features lots of our fave independent roasters.
