Parajes Del Valle Monastrell - Parajes Del Valle
A bright but intense Spanish red wine from Parajes del Valle. This bottle is crafted from organic Monastrell hand harvested from plots (parajes) in the Murcian region of Jumilla.
Monastrell is an important grape for this very arid region, and while it often makes up blends this bottle lets the grape shine through gentle winemaking. Fermentation begins in stainless steel for 15 days then alcoholic and malolactic fermentation continues in concrete for 8 months before bottling without additional sulphur. Parajes del Valle winemaker Maria Jover’s modern and fresh approach to wine making produces ultra clean wines that are honest and fruit forward.
This medium-bodied red wine offers juicy red cherry and raspberry notes that are deepened by peppery spice and soft tobacco on the finish.
Parajes del Valle is a project from major Spanish wine maker the Garcia Perez Group. The purpose is to produce organic wines from the Jumilla DO in Murcia that reflect the region’s character through straightforward and gentle making. These everyday wines are manually harvested early in the season and fermented and aged in stainless steel and concrete to retain freshness in the bottle.
The winery, founded in 2018 and led by young winemaker Maria Jover, sources grapes from certified organic plots around Jumilla and neighbouring Manchuela where dry farmed vineyards experience cold winters and very warm summers with less than 300 litres of rainfall per year.
Their major focus is on Monastrell, a red grape variety that thrives in this arid climate and whose concentrated spice and jammy fruit quality is showcased in their flagship wine.
