Parajes del Valle Macabeo Maceration - Parajes Del Valle
A super clean and approachable orange wine from Spain. This wine is produced using organic Macabeo from Manchuela which have undergone just a week’s skin-contact maceration to bring complexity and colour to the bottle.
Paraje del Valle’s dry orange wine is a stunning addition to their lineup of sustainably produced wines with Mediterranean character. Candied orange zest flavour lingers on the finish with a Campari-like bitterness, making it a brilliant bottle to serve as an aperitif with nuts and cheeses. There’s plenty of the herbaceous notes you might anticipate with orange wines too, a little dried basil and mint that is joined by citrus and melon for a really structured palate.
Parajes del Valle is a project from major Spanish wine maker the Garcia Perez Group. The purpose is to produce organic wines from the Jumilla DO in Murcia that reflect the region’s character through straightforward and gentle making. These everyday wines are manually harvested early in the season and fermented and aged in stainless steel and concrete to retain freshness in the bottle.
The winery, founded in 2018 and led by young winemaker Maria Jover, sources grapes from certified organic plots around Jumilla and neighbouring Manchuela where dry farmed vineyards experience cold winters and very warm summers with less than 300 litres of rainfall per year.
Their major focus is on Monastrell, a red grape variety that thrives in this arid climate and whose concentrated spice and jammy fruit quality is showcased in their flagship wine.
