Parajes Del Valle Macabeo - Parajes Del Valle
An ultra drinkable Spanish white wine using 100% organic Macabeo grapes from DO Manchuela. Parajes del Valle’s gentle approach to winemaking is really on display here, creating a bottle that is crisp, bright and fruit forward.
Hand harvested grapes underwent spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and were then fermented concrete for 15 days. Before bottling, the wine remained in concrete tanks to guarantee lots of clarity and freshness.
On the nose, there’s plenty of floral quality alongside apple, stone fruit and lemon. The palate is driven by the Macabeo’s high acidity but very balanced. All of those fruit flavours are abundant, with soft pear and a little melon joining the party for a truly mouthwatering glass.
Parajes del Valle is a project from major Spanish wine maker the Garcia Perez Group. The purpose is to produce organic wines from the Jumilla DO in Murcia that reflect the region’s character through straightforward and gentle making. These everyday wines are manually harvested early in the season and fermented and aged in stainless steel and concrete to retain freshness in the bottle.
The winery, founded in 2018 and led by young winemaker Maria Jover, sources grapes from certified organic plots around Jumilla and neighbouring Manchuela where dry farmed vineyards experience cold winters and very warm summers with less than 300 litres of rainfall per year.
Their major focus is on Monastrell, a red grape variety that thrives in this arid climate and whose concentrated spice and jammy fruit quality is showcased in their flagship wine.
