Volcanes, Guatemala - Wood St. Coffee

A coffee described as sessionable is a new one for us, but after brewing up a Moccamaster full of Wood St’s new roast, we get it. These Guatemalan coffee beans are sweet, nutty and the perfect low-acidity all day drinker.

This washed smallholder blend combines the efforts of Gildardo Martínez and Neptalí Orozco, who both grow their coffee on the slopes of volcanoes where the soil, known as Andosols,  provides the perfect ground for root development,  water retention and drought resistance.

Specialty coffee roasters Wood St started life as a coffee stall in Walthamstow’s Wood Street Indoor Market and slowly evolved into a permanent neighbourhood fixture, bringing REALLY GOOD COFFEE to their corner of East London.

In 2022, Clare and Gareth Reid handed over the reins of the cafe and honed in on their roasting business, moving into a large unit in Saffron Walden, Essex to meet the growing demand for their REALLY GOOD COFFEE across the hospitality sector.

It’s in high demand for a reason: responsibly sourced, democratised coffee, carefully roasted with the core belief that anyone can brew great coffee if given the tools, knowledge and training.
